A Note From Our Guild President Joyce Schrello
“Hello High Tide Purlers….I am writing to the ten (or so) of you who are Stitches West bound---- on behalf of those of us who are not going north. We are counting on each of you to come back to us filled with a lot of new and helpful info, stitches and just good time fun that we know you will be having. Please share this with all of us at the next meeting. If you have a few aches and pains while away, it will not be the usual ailments we all share, but rather the voodoo dolls we will be sticking pins in here in The OC. Please know that we care for you but that we are green with envy. Travel safely and wishing you well!”
Joyce, On behalf of those staying behind.

Sharing….
Lois was our 'Super Finisher at Work' and presented a number of lovely knitted items she has just finished. Eileen shared some experiences with gauge, and others shared as well. Please visit the web site next week for all the photos from Sharing and Thrumming. (Due to technical difficulties we were not able to get the photos from one computer to another in time for the Newsletter. Sorry!!)
The Survey Results…
Now, for the survey results, Willa Cather, provides some insights…..
Field Trips are the big winner. We all want to go play. Using your stash and Side to side/top down were also quite popular. Maybe we can combine them with some miters.
The only topic that no one marked was Swatching (really). I think we suspected that already!
A lot of us like Knit-alongs, but smaller projects were suggested by a few of us. Perhaps we could do the small sweater ornaments from Berroco (remember the Christmas Tree Kathy showed us she won from North Coast Knitters?) and have a knit-along using up our stash and even raffle one off for a fundraiser. We are a very curious group, I mean that in a nice way, and seems everyone wants to try a lot of different things. I will try to pick the most popular ones and do some workshops for the beaded buttons and knitted embellishments. They were both quite popular too.

For Those Attending Stitches West-
Cheryl forwarded this information to Lindy to share with High Tide Purlers:
My name is Cheryl McLane and I own Purdy Thangz. I make shawl pins, orifice hooks, stitch markers, buttons, and novelty jewelry such as sheep, alpaca and yarn ball pins. My husband and I will be vending at Stitches West this year in Booth 835. There is a 10% off coupon posted on the home page of our website for your members. Please forward this to your members. Be sure to visit us at www.purdythangz.com and at Booth #835. All the best, Cheryl McLane or visit us at: www.purdythangz.com
Philanthropic Efforts:
-Karen provided print outs of patterns and requested Chemo caps for children, and adults. The fabric must be soft. Please consider making one and bring it to Karen at one of our meetings. Thank you for you kindness.
-Lindy has been leading the charge on coordinating sewing the afghan squares together for our charity project for the Orange County Council on Aging. Thank you to everyone who has knit up the three squares in varying colors. It will look beautiful when completed. And speaking of completion….you can help us put it together by bring a Tapestry needle to sew the squares with yarn during our meetings.
Join us on Ravelry for the Ravelry-mpics-
Strands and Stitches (Laguna Beach Knitting Store on PCH), has a team in the Ravelympics. For anyone on Ravelry who would like to join us, please do. We are on the team roster as "Strands and Stitches" and our team captains are Lindy and Sam. Please contact Lindy if you have any questions. It's for fun and for free!
Knit Along With Lindy-
The Pattern for Knit Along: Guild Members reviewed various knitting patterns. Lindy had brought these to the February meeting. Everyone agreed they wanted to do the Agatha short sleeve sweater from Knit Picks (see next page).
Getting Started: We want to start this in March (after Ravelypics ends at the end of February). Lindy will ask for everyone’s availability at the March Meeting. Meanwhile,
if you have any questions feel free to contact Lindy Garber via email at: LMLINDY@cox.net, or call 495 1931.
Agetha Short Sleeve Sweater from Knit Picks
A delicate lace pattern trails up the open front edges of this cardigan, while the body and sleeves are worked in sleek 5x1 ribbing for visual interest and slimming style. Garter stitch eyelets around the hems echo the lace pattern motif and soften the geometry of the ribbing with a hint of flutter. The fronts overlap generously, and may be worn open, fastened high or low at the neckline, or with the back collar scrunched or folder, as the wearer prefers. Note that when finished carefully, this garment is also completely reversible – choose the look to suit your mood.
Needles: Size 6 (4.0mm): 32' circular or longer & DPNs
PodCast Available on web site
Pattern Cost is $1.99
